The Henleaze Society endeavours to support the needs and aspirations of all those who travel to and from the area.  This includes bus routes and timetables, cycle routes and facilities for pedestrians and leisure walkers. If you have comments, or complaints contact the relevant transport authority but we will always be glad to hear your views. Below are some of the main sources of local transport information.  They will be updated as and when it becomes necessary.

Local Bus routes and timetables

Wessex Red Service 15 UWE Frenchay - Centre Colston Avenue stop Cc runs Monday to Saturday. Renumbered from U5 Sep 2012. No reduction in frequency outside UWE term time. Locally service 15 runs along Wellington Hill West, Southmead Road, Henleaze Road, Northumbria Drive & North View to Centre Colston Avenue stop Cc via Whiteladies Road & Park Street; returning via Park Row & Whiteladies Road.

Wessex Red Service 15A UWE Frenchay - Centre St Augustines Parade stop Cf near Hipopodrome, starts St Augustines stop Ci runs Sundays only from 11 November 2013.  Locally same route as 15 but via Bristol Zoo not Clifton Down Station.

Service 3c Clifton Christ Church – Aztec West: New service from September 2013 runs Monday – Friday. 2 morning buses from Clifton & 2 afternoon buses from Aztec West via Victoria Square, Whiteladies Road, Blackboy Hill, Grove Road, Coldharbour Road, Kellaway Avenue, Filton Avenue, Filton College.

First Bus Service 2 Cribbs Causeway stop E – Stockwood runs Monday to Sunday. Renumbered from 54 from September 2013 with revised timetable to interwork with buses on Service 1 along common sections of the route (i.e. between Bristol Temple Meads and White Tree Roundabout).

Service 20 Southmead - Centre Colston Avenue stop Cd runs Monday to Sunday (limited hourly service on Sundays). Since 1 September 2013 the route avoids Bishop Road, Kings Drive & Clare Avenue and terminates in Bristol Centre stop Cd. Change at stop Cd for connecting onward services 50 & 51 via Temple Meads station (Temple Gate) & on to south Bristol.

Locally service 20 runs along Eastfield Road, Southmead Road, Wellington Hill West, Kellaway Avenue,(former 21 route) Coldharbour Road, Upper Cranbrook Road (now no bus stops in Upper Cranbrook Road) & Cranbrook Road.

Wessex Connect Service 501 Abbey Wood MOD to Avonmouth via Parkway station & Southmead Hospital runs Monday to Saturday ; 502 UWE Frenchay to Shirehampton via Parkway station & Southmead Hospital runs Monday to Sunday & 505 UWE Bower Ashton to Southmead Hospital* runs half-hourly Monday to Saturday NB: Locally the 505 Service runs along Coldharbour Road, Kellaway Avenue, Wellington Hill West, Southmead Road to Southmead Hospital (*Avon Orthopaedic Centre). and type in your start point and destination or see/print revised timetables (which have an “all stops” option).

Bus services linking Southmead Hospital & Frenchay Hospital

First Bus service 18 runs Monday to Sunday Southmead Hospital (*Avon Orthopaedic Centre), Filton church, Parkway station, Frenchay Hospital (main entrance Frenchay Park Road) & on to Emersons Green.

Hospital Intersite bus runs Monday – Friday primarily for staff. Patients/escorts & visitors can use the service but Hospital staff take priority.

Local cycling routes

There are several local cycle routes. These are generally not sign-posted or marked on the ground but are shown on the Council Bristol cycling map. The (new in 2012) walking & cycle route to/from Southmead Hospital passes through Henleaze between Kellaway Avenue & Wellington Hill West via Park Grove & is partially signed.

Bristol Ramblers Triangular City Walk

This signed walk passes through parts of Henleaze on its 18 mile Long Distance City circuit of parts of Bristol linking Bristol Temple Meads, Sea Mills and Redland Stations on the Severn Beach railway line.
